I'm supposed to be studying right now, given that I have my last final at 8am on Monday (and will maybe then officially be a senior?!), but I couldn't resist posting a little thing about my Boe.
I started riding again this year after years of not (like 4 or 5) and it took some shopping around--the triangle area is full of amazing barns--but I have been so lucky to find Pleasant Hill. The trainers are incredible and the horses are the absolute best, but Boe is a special one. He's got the biggest heart and is so willing. He tends to get fairly anxious inside and on some days (like yesterday) will not stand still for anything, but is a champ as soon as we're in the ring.
My friend Emma and I have been taking lessons together and she'd never really had lessons before, so it's been really great for me to get to work back up and re-learn all the fundamentals. I'm rebuilding muscles I'd forgotten I had! Yesterday was a big-ish day though because I finally got to start jumping again. It was little stuff--just tiny crossrails that we spent ages trotting over and then eventually raising and cantering across. I still have so far to go to get back in the swing of things--my timing is still a little off and there are definitely some nerves there just because it has been so long--but it was the perfect end-of-year lesson.
Can't wait for fall and to get back to this goober who makes my Friday afternoons so amazing.
